University Health Services

All full-time students, trainees, residents, and fellows on the East Baltimore Campus have access to the University Health Services. Spouses/domestic partners who are on the EHP Student Health Program are also eligible to be seen at UHS. UHS provides medical, mental health and wellness services for its patients. Their team is staffed with internal medicine physicians, psychiatrists, a licensed psychologist, nurse practitioners (including a women’s health nurse practitioner), and licensed clinical social workers assisted by our clinical and administrative staff. UHS staff will assist you with your medical appointment scheduling, billing and insurance questions.

You can also use the Hopkins Dentistry Office.

The Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacies offer a discount to everyone with a Hopkins badge. Our mail order pharmacy is provided by Caremark.

UHS Mental Health

To request and appointment call: 410-955-1892
Urgent care after hours: call 410-955-1892 and press “0” (which will connect you to the Johns Hopkins Hospital page operator) and request the University Health Services-> Mental Health psychiatrist on call.

There is no out-of-pocket expense for visits to the UHS Mental Health program, and you will be seen as many times as is medically necessary to be treated for your condition. All visits are kept in the strictest confidence.


Johns Hopkins Student Assistance Program

The JHSAP program offers numerous services to graduate students, including short-term counseling, crisis response, relationship support, school-life coaching and adjustment, educational workshops and dean/faculty/staff-student consultations. Visits to JHSAP are free, and you are not limited to the number of times you may access services. Spouses, partners and children are also able to access services at JHSAP. Health Insurance

All graduate students in the School of Medicine must be covered by health insurance. Health benefits for students includes dental and vision insurance. Detailed information on the Student Health Program insurance (SHP) can be found here.

Fitness and Recreation

Fitness Facilities

Denton A. Cooley Center – This is the main gym for the East Baltimore campus. Memberships are FREE to full time graduate students, and includes access to weight rooms, locker rooms and showers, raquetball courts, basketball courts and an indoor track. There is an outdoor pool open memorial day through labor day, and a student membership can be purchased starting at $70. Students must pay for exercise classes. The Cooley center hosts intramural sports leagues in fall, winter and spring!

Cooley Center Satellite (JHSPH, 9th floor) – Graduate students who have a membership at Cooley have access to the fitness center in the School of Public Health. Gym is equipped with cardio machines, weights and a locker room with showers. No group fitness classes are held here.

Ralph O’Connor Gym (Homewood Campus) – Memberships at the Undergraduate Campus are available to all East Baltimore graduate students. Cost of membership is $96/6 months, or $192/annual. Gym membership includes full access to weight rooms, cardio machines, indoor track, basketball courts, rock climbing, indoor pool and locker rooms and more.
